Kickstart 2025 with a New Hobby: Tips for creative Wellness

On the first weekend of January, we hosted our 2025 Vision Board Workshop, and it was such a heart-warming way to begin the year. Seeing so many people take a moment to dream big and set thoughtful intentions for the months ahead was truly inspiring.

One thing we noticed? Certain themes kept showing up on vision boards:

  1. Find a new hobby

  2. Drink more water

  3. Move more and feel good

These simple yet meaningful goals resonated with us (some of our team have even adopted them for ourselves!). Today, we’re focusing on the first goal—finding a new hobby. A creative hobby can be a beautiful way to nurture your well-being, offering a space to unwind, explore, and grow. If you’re ready to dive in, here are tips to get you started:

1. Take a Class or Workshop

There’s something special about starting a new journey alongside fellow beginners. Whether it’s painting, pottery, or sewing, classes are a welcoming space to learn the basics while connecting with others. Remember, mistakes are part of the process—and often where the most joy and discovery happen.

2. Experiment with DIY Kits

DIY kits are an inviting, low-pressure way to try hobbies like knitting, candle-making, or watercolour painting. These kits usually include everything you need to get started. Don’t worry if your first attempts feel imperfect—embrace the process and see where it leads you.

3. Reflect on What Excites You

Take a moment to think about what inspires or calms you: Are you drawn to colours, textures, or storytelling? Do you find joy in working with your hands or exploring new ideas? Your daily habits can offer clues—maybe you enjoy snapping photos or doodling during brainstorming sessions, which could point you toward photography or drawing.

4. Join a Creative Community

Explore local handmade markets, creative meetups, or hobbyist groups to discover new crafts and connect with others who share your passions. If there aren’t any nearby, online spaces like YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram are wonderful places to find inspiration and tutorials.

5. Try Micro-Hobbies Without Pressure

Not ready to dive into something big? That’s completely okay. Spend a few minutes doodling, write a short poem, or experiment with a new recipe. By letting go of perfection and simply playing, you might stumble upon something that sparks joy.

Finding a hobby isn’t about filling time—it’s about creating space for joy, curiosity, and self-expression. This year, we’d love to hear what hobby you’re excited to try. Drop a comment or reach out to share your journey—we’re here, cheering you on every step of the way.

Here’s to making 2025 your most creative and fulfilling year yet!
